Work a joined round by learning how to crochet the tubular stitch
In this video we will show you step by step how to work two methods for crocheting in a tube. This tutorial covers everything you need to know to master working as a joined round, or in a continuous spiral. Both of these methods are easy for a beginner or any level.
You can work in the round to produce a 'tube' of crochet. There are two main version: working in joined rounds and working in a continuous spiral.
Joined Rounds: Make a foundation chain according to your pattern.
Join the last stitch to the first using a slip stitch: Insert the hook through the centre of your first stitch.
Loop the yarn around your hook and pull it through the two loops on your hook, be careful not to twist your foundation chain.
Make a turning chain.
Then work one round in the stitch pattern specified by your pattern. (We are working in double crochet).
When you get to the end of your round, join the last stitch to the first with a slip stitch.
Repeat steps 5-7 for each round.
Continuous Spiral: Make a foundation chain according to your pattern.
Join the last stitch to the first using a slip stitch: Insert the hook through the centre of your first stitch.
Loop the yarn around your hook and pull it through the two loops on your hook. Be careful not to twist your foundation chain.
Make a turning chain.
Then work one round in the stitch pattern specified in your pattern. (We are working in single crochet).
When you get to the end of your round, simply continue working across the previous round, working in a continuous spiral until your piece reaches the desired length.
Repeat steps 11-13 for each round. To finish off your piece join the last round with a slip stitch.
