Learn how to knit socks by watching our easy peasy knitting tutorial all about measuring your tension on the stripe rows after the rib.
In this pattern tension is really important. Unless you are getting 30 stitches and 42 rows to 10cm/4” your leopard spot pattern might not appear. Ideally, once you finish the ribbing of your sock, the colour will change at the end of your round. If it doesn’t, don’t worry, there is still time to fix it.
What follows next in your yarn is a series of four colour changes. Each stripe of colour must be exactly a round long. If you don’t get it right first time, try knitting a bit tighter or a bit looser. If you still can’t get the stripes of colour to be consistently one round long, it might be time to change your needle size.
It might feel like a hassle but getting the correct tension will really pay off when you have a jazzy pair of leopard print socks to show off, and no messy colour changes!
