Learn how to knit the woven stitch, used in our Hold Tight Clutch range
This stitch is worked over an uneven number of stitches. As you progress you'll see a really pretty and woven pattern take shape. This stitch may take a bit of practice to get right, so check out our step by step breakdown below.
Let's walk you through how to knit the woven stitch - it's a stitch that we use for our popular Hold Tight Clutch bag range. Grab your yarn and needles, let's go!
Your first row is a right side row. Slip 1 stitch knit-wise.
Next, Insert the right needle into the back of the SECOND stitch on the left needle. Use the image to the left as a guide.
Wrap the yarn around your right needle and pull the stitch through as for a regular knit stitch. But DON'T slip it off the left needle just yet!
Insert the right needle into the back of the first stitch on the left needle.
Wrap the yarn and pull it through as for a regular knit stitch.
Slip both stitches off the left needle. Repeat steps 2 to 6 for the rest of the row.
Next, you will work the wrong side row. Slip 1 stitch purl-wise.
Purl the SECOND stitch on the left needle. Don't slip it off the left needle yet!
Purl the first stitch on the left needle. This may be a bit tricky but practice makes perfect! Keep going Gang.
Slip both stitches off the left needle.
Repeat steps 9 to 11 for the rest of the row.
Repeat these two rows for as long as you need. You have now mastered how to work the woven stitch! Well done. You should now see a really pretty pattern take shape. Enjoy :)
