Learn how to embroider the back stitch in this simple tutorial.
Back stitch is great for outlining a design. It gives a continuous row of straight, neat stitches. Use 2 strands for this technique.
To start, bring the needle up through the fabric at the starting point and then take it back down about 3-4mm from where you started. This is your first stitch.
Bring the needle back up 3-4mm along from where you went down and then work back on yourself, putting the needle through the fabric where the first stitch ended. This is your second stitch.
Now travel 3-4mm along from the end of your second stitch and bring your needle up through your fabric. Work back again, going down through the fabric where the second stitch ended. This is your third stitch.
Repeat this process, each time going up through the fabric along the line from your last stitch and then working backward toward the previous stitch made.
