Each of these loops indicates one stitch. Beginning with the first loops, work in single crochet until you have one loop left. Our foundation chain is made up of 20 stitches, so I am going to work 19 stitches.

When you reach the last loop, work two single crochet stitches into it. To join your round, work a slip stitch into the first stitch that you worked. Now that you’ve crocheted into both sides of your foundation chain, you should have double the number of stitches you started with plus two. We chained 20 stitches so I have 42 stitches.
